Taxi from Barcelona Airport to the city centre — fixed price €46
A direct, pre-booked run from Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 arrivals to your address in the centre of Barcelona. I meet you inside the terminal with a sign, help with the bags, and the price is agreed before you land.
- Fixed price
- €46
- Distance
- 14 km
- Typical time
- 25 min
What the price includes
- The whole fare for this exact trip, agreed before you get in — nothing added at the end.
- Any airport or cruise terminal access charge and all motorway tolls.
- 30 minutes of waiting at no charge at a terminal, 15 minutes anywhere else, then an hourly rate. A delayed flight moves the pick-up instead, and costs nothing.
- Luggage for up to 4 passengers. A minivan is available for larger groups.
- Card or cash, your choice. Most trips are paid in the car; on some I ask for a deposit or the fare in advance.
Where we meet at BCN
At Terminal 1 I wait in the arrivals hall on floor 0, just past the customs doors, with a sign showing your name. The hall has two exits and people often walk straight past each other — stay by the doors you came through and I will find you.
At Terminal 2B I wait opposite the baggage-reclaim exit, next to the information desk. T2A and T2C arrivals are a two-minute walk along the same building and I will tell you which door to use when I confirm.
If you would rather not wait inside, I can pick you up at the departures level instead, which is quieter and quicker to drive out of. Say so in your booking message and I will send you the exact spot.
I check the flight number you give me, so the pick-up follows the time your plane actually lands rather than its scheduled time — a delayed landing costs you nothing and there is no need to message me from the plane. Waiting is then free for 30 minutes from that time.
The drive into town
The airport sits about 14 km south-west of Plaça de Catalunya, and the run in takes roughly 25 minutes on the C-32 and Gran Via. Between 08:00 and 09:30 on weekdays, and again from 17:30 to 19:30, the last three kilometres into the Eixample can add ten to fifteen minutes.
This is exactly why the distance matters. Sants is 11 km from the terminal, the Gothic Quarter about 15 km, and Poblenou or the Fòrum closer to 20 km. Quoting one flat "airport to Barcelona" price for all three would mean overcharging some passengers and undercharging others, so your price is worked out from the real driving distance to the address you give.
The fare shown includes the airport access charge, all tolls, and luggage for up to four passengers. Nothing is added at the end of the trip.
Where in the centre you are going
The centre is a dozen different drop-offs, and the one that matters is yours. What changes between them is not only the distance but whether a car can reach the door at all — so tell me the address when you book and I will tell you exactly where we stop.
Plaça de Catalunya, La Rambla and the Gothic Quarter
About 15 km from the terminal. Plaça de Catalunya itself is straightforward, but most of the Gothic Quarter is pedestrianised or too narrow for a car, so a taxi cannot reach the majority of its addresses. That is only a problem if you find out on arrival — give me the street and I will name the corner we meet at before you land.
The Eixample, Passeig de Gràcia and the Sagrada Família
Where most visitors stay, and the easiest part of Barcelona to be dropped in: every block has a corner and every corner works. Give me a street and the nearest cross street rather than only a number and I will be at the door itself. The last three kilometres into the grid are the slow part at rush hour, which the quoted time already allows for.
Barceloneta and Port Vell
The old fishermen’s quarter, five minutes from the cruise terminals. Its streets are much narrower than the Eixample’s and many are one-way or restricted to residents, so cars reach Passeig de Joan de Borbó, Passeig Marítim and Carrer del Doctor Aiguader reliably and the small streets between them often not.
Gràcia and Park Güell
Uphill from the Eixample, with the streets to prove it. The squares — Vila de Gràcia, del Sol, de la Virreina — are pedestrian and the lanes between them are narrow and usually one-way, so the dependable edges are Gran de Gràcia, Travessera de Gràcia and Carrer de Còrsega.
Sants station
The closest of these to the airport at about 11 km, and the one where timing matters most — a train does not wait. Door to the concourse, with the bags, rather than the walk from the metro.
Getting there another way
A taxi is not always the right answer. Here is the honest comparison for this trip.
| Option | Time | Cost | Best when |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aerobús | 35–40 min plus the walk | Per person, fare set by Aerobús | You are travelling light, alone, and your hotel is near Plaça de Catalunya. |
| R2 Nord train | 30 min to Sants, plus a transfer | Per person; a T-casual works (€13.00 for 10 trips) | You land at T2 and are heading straight to Sants or Passeig de Gràcia. |
| Metro L9 Sud | 45+ min with at least one change | €5.90 per person, the Airport ticket | Rarely — it does not reach the centre directly and involves stairs with luggage. |
| Pre-booked taxi | 25–35 min door to door | Fixed, shown before you book | Two or more people, any luggage, late arrivals, small children, or a hotel that is not on the bus route. |
Questions about this trip
How much is a taxi from Barcelona Airport to the city centre?
€46 to Plaça de Catalunya, at the top of La Rambla, for up to four passengers, booked ahead and fixed — the airport supplement, the tolls, the luggage and thirty minutes of waiting are already inside it. Other addresses follow the real driving distance, so put yours into the form and you see the exact figure before you book. Five or six of you need the minivan, seven or eight the van, and the form prices those too.
Why book ahead instead of taking a taxi at the airport?
Because the price, the car and the person are settled before you land. I meet you inside arrivals with your name on a sign, so there is no queue to join after a long flight. The fare is fixed when you book, with the tolls and the airport supplement already inside it, and it does not move for traffic. I follow your flight number, so a delay just moves the pick-up. And the right vehicle is waiting: a van for up to eight with room for the cases, child seats fitted if you ask for them, and card or cash in the car.
How much is a taxi from Barcelona Airport to the Gothic Quarter?
It is worked out from the real driving distance, which is about 15 km, with the airport access charge and tolls already inside the figure. Put the address into the calculator and you have the exact price before you book. Worth knowing: most of the quarter is pedestrianised, so we agree a meeting corner rather than a door.
Can you drop me at the Sagrada Família or Passeig de Gràcia?
Yes, and the Eixample is the easiest part of the city to be dropped in — every block has a corner. Give me the street and the nearest cross street and I will stop at the door rather than somewhere near it.
How long does the taxi take from BCN Airport to the centre?
Around 25 minutes outside rush hour. Allow 35 to 40 minutes if you land between 08:00 and 09:30 or between 17:30 and 19:30 on a weekday.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
Nothing, and it costs you nothing. I track the flight number in your booking and move the pick-up to match the actual landing time. Waiting is then free for 30 minutes from that time.
Is the airport supplement included in the price?
Yes. The airport access charge, motorway tolls and luggage are all inside the price you see. The only things that can change it are extras you choose, such as a child seat.
Can you fit four people with suitcases?
Four passengers with four medium suitcases fit in the saloon car. If you are five or more, or you have oversized bags, choose the passenger count in the form and it switches to the minivan automatically.
Which terminal should I book for?
Book for the terminal your flight actually arrives at — T1 and T2 are 4 km apart and connected by a shuttle bus. If you are not sure, give me the flight number and I will check it.
