Cornellà de Llobregat

Getting a taxi in Cornellà de Llobregat

Inland in the Baix Llobregat, and the one area I cover where the airport and the city centre are almost exactly the same trip.

Cornellà sits on the far bank of the Llobregat, south-west of Barcelona, and it has an unusual position: the terminals and the middle of Barcelona are about the same distance away, a quarter of an hour or so either way in normal traffic, and the airport is marginally the closer of the two. If you are flying, that makes it one of the easier addresses on this list and a shorter airport run than anywhere in the Eixample.

The airport is the straightforward direction. The C-32 and the B-23 put you at the terminals without touching Barcelona traffic at all. Going into the city is the slower half despite the near-identical distance, because everything has to cross the Llobregat and the crossings funnel traffic through a handful of bridges.

The one thing worth planning around is the RCDE Stadium. Espanyol play in Cornellà and the ground holds about forty thousand, so on a match day the roads around it behave completely differently for a couple of hours either side of kick-off. If you have a flight to catch on a match evening, say so when you book and I will come earlier.

Away from that it is easy driving — the streets are wide and modern by Barcelona standards, and the approach from the airport side rarely gives any trouble.

Questions and answers

How much is a taxi from Cornellà to Barcelona airport?

It is among the shorter airport transfers I do — closer than the Eixample, and about the same distance as a run into the centre of Barcelona. Enter your address in the booking form for the exact fixed price.

Is it quicker from Cornellà to the airport or into Barcelona?

Usually the airport, even though the distance is almost the same. The terminals are reached on the C-32 and B-23 without entering the city, while a run into the centre has to cross the Llobregat.

Can you pick up at the RCDE Stadium?

Yes, and it is worth booking ahead for a match. With about forty thousand people leaving at once the approach roads are slow, so we agree a meeting point away from the main exits rather than at the gate.
