The terminals at a glance
Every terminal has a taxi rank. The distances are the port’s own figures to the city centre.

| A | Any line: a public terminal. Due to be demolished in 2028. | 2 km | Yes |
| B | Any line: a public terminal. Due to be demolished in 2028. | 2 km | Yes |
| C | Any line: a public terminal. Demolished at the end of 2026; a new C opens in 2028. | 2.5 km | Yes |
| D — Palacruceros | Carnival Corporation lines first: Costa, Carnival, AIDA, P&O, Princess, Cunard and the rest. | 2.5 km | Yes |
| E — Helix | Carnival Corporation lines first, like D. | 3 km | Yes |
| H — MSC | MSC Cruises’ own terminal, the furthest along the quay. | 3.9 km | Yes |

| G | Royal Caribbean Group’s new terminal, due to open in 2027. | — | — |
Terminal letters, distances and the timetable of changes are from the Port of Barcelona’s Barcelona Cruise Facilities 2026 brochure. A line can be given a different terminal for a particular sailing, so the letter on your cruise documents is the one that counts.
Where the cruise ships dock
Barcelona’s cruise ships berth at the Moll Adossat — the Muelle Adosado in Spanish — a long quay on the south side of the port, below Montjuïc. The address for its terminals is Moll Adossat, s/n, 08039 Barcelona, but the quay is well over a kilometre long, so whoever collects you needs your terminal letter as well.
There is no walking route off it worth taking: it is a working port, and the way out is a shuttle bus or a car. By road it is about 7 km to Plaça de Catalunya and under 3 km to Barceloneta.
The one terminal elsewhere is S, at the World Trade Center by the Columbus monument, which takes smaller ships — and it closes at the end of 2026.
Which terminal your cruise line uses
MSC Cruises has its own terminal, H, the furthest along the quay at about 3.9 km from the city centre.
Terminals D (Palacruceros) and E (Helix) are private terminals that give priority to Carnival Corporation’s ships — Costa, Carnival, AIDA, P&O, Princess, Cunard and the group’s other lines — though another line can berth there on a given day.
Royal Caribbean Group is building its own terminal, G, due to open in 2027. Until it does, Royal Caribbean and Celebrity ships berth at the public terminals.
Every other line — Norwegian, Virgin Voyages, Viking, Oceania and the rest — uses the public terminals A, B and C, which are open to any ship, or S at the World Trade Center if the ship is small enough. Which one is decided per sailing and printed on your cruise documents a few weeks before you sail; give that letter to whoever is collecting you.
Is the Barcelona cruise port closing?
No. In July 2025 the city council and the port signed an agreement to make cruise traffic more sustainable, and the number of terminals goes from seven to five. Ships keep sailing throughout — what changes is which building you use.
The timetable, from the port’s own plan: at the end of 2026, Terminal S at the World Trade Center closes and Terminal C is demolished. In 2027, Royal Caribbean’s Terminal G opens. In 2028, a new Terminal C opens with one berth and A and B are demolished. By 2030 the new C has three berths and a cap of 7,000 passengers a day, and a second bridge alongside the Porta d’Europa carries the traffic off the quay.
The port shuttle bus (the Blue Bus)
A shuttle runs from the Moll Adossat terminals to the foot of La Rambla by the Columbus monument. It is inexpensive, it runs frequently on busy days, and it is the standard way off the quay if you are travelling light. There is none from the World Trade Center, which is close enough to the city to walk.
From the drop-off you are at the bottom of La Rambla, which is a fine starting point for the Gothic Quarter and not a fine starting point for anywhere else with a suitcase. Factor in the onward metro or walk when you compare it with a taxi.
Taxis at the terminals
Every terminal has a taxi rank, and taxis reach the terminal buildings directly under normal conditions, so you are collected at the door rather than at the port gate. On a few very heavy disembarkation mornings the port restricts vehicle access to the quay, and pick-ups move to the World Trade Center point instead — a pre-booked driver will tell you the night before if that applies to your date.
The distances involved are short. The city centre is only a few kilometres away, and Barceloneta is closer still. This is exactly the situation where a flat "port transfer" price overcharges heavily, because the actual journey is a fraction of the length of an airport run.
Between the terminals and the airport it is about 17 km and around half an hour. Booked ahead, the price is fixed before you travel, with the airport and port charges inside it, and it is the same in both directions.
Timing on embarkation and disembarkation days
Boarding usually runs from late morning to mid-afternoon, and the approach road to Moll Adossat is at its worst between roughly 10:00 and 13:00, when coaches and taxis arrive together. If you are flying in the same morning you sail, book the earliest pick-up you reasonably can.
Disembarkation concentrates several thousand people into about two hours. The taxi rank moves, but slowly, and it moves slowest exactly when the largest ships empty. Booking a car to meet you at the terminal is worth considerably more than the small amount it costs.
If you have a long gap between clearing the terminal and your flight, hiring a car and driver by the hour is worth considering: luggage stays in the boot while you see the city, which beats both dragging it around and paying for storage.

Questions and answers
Where do cruise ships dock in Barcelona?
At the Moll Adossat (Muelle Adosado in Spanish), the cruise quay on the south side of the port below Montjuïc; the address is Moll Adossat, s/n, 08039 Barcelona. The only terminal elsewhere is S at the World Trade Center, for smaller ships, which closes at the end of 2026.
Which terminal does Royal Caribbean use in Barcelona?
Until 2027, one of the public terminals on the Moll Adossat — A, B or C — and the letter is on your cruise documents. Royal Caribbean Group’s own Terminal G is due to open in 2027.
Which terminal does MSC use in Barcelona?
Its own: Terminal H, at the far end of the Moll Adossat, about 3.9 km from the city centre — the longest drive of all the terminals.
Which terminal do Carnival and Costa ships use?
Usually D (Palacruceros) or E (Helix), the two terminals that give priority to Carnival Corporation’s lines. Check your documents, because a ship can be moved for a particular sailing.
Is the Barcelona cruise port closing?
No. Under a 2025 agreement the terminals go from seven to five between 2026 and 2030 — S and the old A, B and C close, while G and a new C open — but cruises keep sailing throughout.
How much is a taxi from Barcelona cruise port to the city centre?
Booked with me, €40 to the city centre for up to four passengers, with the luggage and the port charges included and the price fixed before you sail. Shorter runs such as Barceloneta cost less, because the price follows the real distance to your address.
How far is Barcelona Airport from the cruise port?
About 17 km by road, normally around 30 minutes. Allow more on an embarkation morning between about 10:00 and 13:00, when coaches and taxis arrive at the quay together.
How much is a taxi from the cruise port to Barcelona Airport?
Booked with me, €56 for up to four passengers by day on a weekday, all in and fixed before you travel, and the same in both directions. Nights, weekends and the larger vehicles cost more; the form shows your exact figure.
Can you walk from the Barcelona cruise terminals into the city?
Not realistically. Moll Adossat is an active port quay with restricted pedestrian access, and the walk to the city is 35 to 45 minutes. Use the shuttle or a taxi.
How far is Barcelona cruise port from the city centre?
By road, around 7 km from the Moll Adossat to Plaça de Catalunya and under 3 km to Barceloneta. The port gives its terminals as 2 to 3.9 km from the city centre, with MSC’s Terminal H the furthest.
Should I book a taxi in advance for disembarkation day?
If you have a flight to catch, yes. Several thousand passengers leave within the same two hours and the rank is slowest precisely then. The night before is enough notice.
